Nigeria’s Minister for Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has spoken out on the controversies surrounding the alleged Guinean passport of Nigeria’s ‘president-elect’, Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on a Channels TV programme on Sunday, Fashola emphasized that governance is not about sainthood and that Nigerians are no longer bothered about Tinubu’s past.
He further stated that Tinubu’s alleged dual citizenship and other controversies surrounding his age, name, educational background, health status, businesses, hometown, and past links with drug trafficking have been ventilated sufficiently and that the Nigerian people have spoken by their votes.
Fashola noted that governance is about efficiency, performance, and delivery, and that while character is important, it is not necessary to look for a saint to lead Nigeria.
He urged Nigerians not to read other meanings into his words and emphasized that issues of integrity should never be compromised. Fashola also debunked rumors that Tinubu owns Oriental Hotel, stating that he does not.
