If you’re close enough to Engr Chris Emeka Azubogu, you learn new things about him everyday. He is a man so humble in nature that he doesn’t talk about all his achievements. To him, service to humanity does not require noise-making.
Besides usual political practice, he wouldn’t have been branding his projects and many are still unbranded. That is why in issues of empowerment and other humanitarian services one, however closely associated with him, learns about new things regarding his interventions on daily basis.
When I heard, less than 24 hours to the event, that he would be honoured by the Catholic Women Organization, CWO, Nnewi Diocese on the day of their 2021 Convention at the Assumption Cathedral in Nnewi, I decided to attend just to learn why he’s being honoured by such a powerful organisation.
And I found out.
Their first consideration was Mr. Project’s consistency over the years. They considered his numerous trainings and empowerment for women and youths. They considered the cold rooms their representative builds for their various businesses. They considered all the roads, power interventions and other critical infrastructure attracted by him. Above all, they considered his medical interventions where thousands have benefitted, particularly in the case of fibroid surgeries.
But these were not the only considerations.
To crown it all, the Diocesan President, Lady Winifred Nkpalu said, “all Honourable Azubogu did and does, it is with the fear of God.
“We call on all politicians to go the Azubogu way in the business of bringing appropriate dividends of democracy to the people.
“This man we call Mr. Project partners with us whenever our involvement is necessary for better results. We either benefit directly or through our husbands and children.
“His selflessness and doing all things with fear of God is the reason we are honouring him with – AMBASSADOR OF CHRIST. And when I say we, it’s all the over 50 parishes of this Diocese,” she concluded.
It was in the presence of Igwe Nnewi HRH Kenneth Orizu while Chief Akachukwu Nwankpo was the chairman of the occasion. Monsignor Patrick Anichebe Ezeobata officiated.
It was another day of learning more about this humble man that is very #PreparedToServe.
