No, We Won’t Conclude The Matter Yet!

By Pat Uchendu

Anambra State is blessed in many ways. We are a resourceful people in many calls of life, excelling in over 80% of them. The records are there just like we are a commercial hub of restless entrepreneurs. Evidently, centres of commercial activities are spread like the lateral roots of a healthy tree, with the tap roots in Onitsha and Nnewi. There are hopes in any direction one plies his enterprise in the State. Only a politician who understands this should be our beacon. And we have one!

From Onitsha through Nnewi with a sprint towards Ihiala to Uli on one prong are all commercial activities. Then from Igboukwu through Adazi to Nnobi through Ekwuluọbia to Ụmụnze axis with a sprint towards Uga are equally contextual. Then Ogidi, Awka, sprawling towards Awkuzu to Ụmụnrị are commercial fireworks on that prong.

In recent times, certainly in the last two months we are witnessing flashes of think-home activities from some of our Representatives in a manner that depict imitation and everybody is asking how the spring started. I know, many discerning people also do know!

However, this week the answer was succinctly captured by Chris McCool Nwosu as a summation of Ngige Nwachukwu’s article; a subtlety that indicted under-performing Reps from Anambra State.

He wrote:
“Azubogu went to Abuja, sat in the ‘unholy’ conclave, took our own shares and brought them home”

Nothing can be more true than this fact. Some of the activities we see today from the few that are trying to think home are the kind of projects Azubogu had done some eight years ago. They are numerous to mention, dotting the landscape of his constituency like twinkle lights on a Christmas Tree. But the mother of them all which is the “The Fouth Azubogu Medical Outreach” is lampooning remnants of the not-too-informed about his quintessential representation. It was a firm statement on good representation.

Interestingly, while public showings and euphoria greet that very successful outreach, which has earned him Governor of Projects besides Mr Project, he says we should just wait and see more things unfold. While that wait won’t be long, we shall in the next weeks expose Azubogu’s thoughts on what he has been doing to correctly present Anambra State on her destined pedestal that her people thrive; where they should have greater hope in the soil of the rising sun, looking at the commercial tree painted above.
