NPFL Partners with LaLiga to Enhance Nigerian Football Talent: All-Star Training Program Launched

The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) unveiled an exciting partnership with LaLiga, the renowned Spanish football league, aiming to elevate Nigerian football talent to new heights. Gbenga Elegbeleye, Chairman of the League Management Company (LMC), formally announced this collaboration during a press conference held in Lagos on Thursday.

The strategic alliance is geared towards cultivating and enhancing the NPFL, fostering excellence, and fostering a culture of hard work. A key initiative under this partnership involves the formation of an NPFL All-Star squad composed of 11 top-performing league players. These exceptional athletes will undergo rigorous training and have the unique opportunity to play alongside LaLiga’s finest teams.

The Technical Committee tasked with selecting the All-Star squad was inaugurated, with Harrison Jala at the helm as chairman. Esteemed football figures such as Austin Eguaveon, Daniel Amokachi, Godwin Nwa, Deji Omotoyinbo, Segun Agbede, and Mitchel Obi were also appointed as members of the committee.

Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye expressed the importance of this partnership, emphasizing its potential to bolster the Nigerian football landscape and offer well-deserved recognition to dedicated players. He conveyed, “There’s an agreement we have secured with top LaLiga Clubs to host our NPFL All Stars squad to play against some other top teams in Spain. This will further enrich the experience of our players, as they will have the opportunity to play with the best.”

Jala, the committee’s chairman, affirmed their dedication to the task at hand and shared optimism for an innovative 2023/2024 league season, building upon the successes of the previous season. “This is a call to service; we intend to make fairness our watchword and give our league a facelift, and make it better than the 2022/2023 league season.”

Basil Kabbani, Chairman of Propel Sports Africa, applauded the collaboration between NPFL, GTI Group, and Propel Sports Africa, introducing cutting-edge AI technology to enhance sports coverage. He announced the delivery of three additional AI cameras ahead of the 2023/2024 season, promising an enhanced viewing experience for football enthusiasts across the nation.

The unveiling of this partnership marks a significant stride in Nigerian football, demonstrating a commitment to nurturing and showcasing homegrown talent on an international stage. As the NPFL prepares for the upcoming season, the collaboration with LaLiga ignites excitement and optimism for a future of growth and success within the sport.
