Nri Peoples Forum Sponsors Ultra Modern Sports Club Project

—As Ekwunife Performs Project Groundbreaking Ceremony, Lauds The Forum For The Community-Development Initiative

— Describes Sports As A Platform That Binds And Brings People Together

The leading aspirant for the November 6 Anambra governorship election, Senator Uche Ekwunife, has reaffirmed her commitment to ensure stability and development in communities in the state, stating that she will promote peace, progress and prosperity through genuine developmental efforts if elected as the next governor of the state.

Ekwunife, who made this known on Saturday, May 28, 2021, while performing the groundbreaking ceremony of Nri Sports Club Complex noted that she is honoured to be married to the community. She described sports as a platform that binds and brings people together.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Igbo-Ukwu born Senator commended both the leadership of Nri Progress Union led by the President General, Chief Dr Kelvin Obiegbunam and the Nri Peoples Forum led by Chief Clems Ifezue, adding that she is proud that the community stakeholders are putting resources together to build a legacy project that will outlive generations yet to come.

Ekwunife while commending the entire Nri community for always supporting her in her political aspirations irrespective of political divide noted that the project which is a brain child of the Nri Peoples Forum shows that with unity of purpose communities can achieve a lot for themselves outside government intervention.

The A-grade lawmaker further reiterated her call for local government autonomy, noting that it will open up and aid development in communities. She promised that by the grace of God, if she becomes the next governor of Anambra state, she will conduct LGA election within a year in office.

While welcoming the Senator, Chief Eddy Onuorah described Ekwunife as an asset to the entire community, noting that her contributions to the development of the community cannot be overemphasized.

In his remarks, the president of Nri Peoples Forum, Chief Clems Ifezue noted that the forum had picked Ekwunife from the pool of eminent personalities in the community to perform the groundbreaking ceremony because of her immense contributions to the community. He said that the project has brought all the people of Nri community together, adding that the transparency in their activities is second to none.

Chief Ifezue paid tribute to the defunct Nri Peoples Club members, saying that the complex will be built in their memory. He said that Ekwunife complemented the vision and mission of the forum. Speaking further, Ifezue said that the complex upon completion will have a well equipped clinic amongst other facilities.

On the contributions of the forum towards the growth and development of the Nri Community, Chief Ifezue said that the forum which has been in existence for over five years has offered academic scholarships and business grants to indigenes of the community, and embarked on medical outreach and renovation of schools.

On his part, the President General of Nri Community, Chief Kelvin Obiegbunam commended Ekwunife for what she has been doing in the community, adding that infrastructure and otherwise the Senator has done excellently well. He noted that the mission of the forum is to leave behind a befitting project.

On the choice of Ekwunife to perform the exercise, Chief Obiegbunam noted that the lawmaker whom he described as Madam Project is best suited for it. He said that Ekwunife and her husband Chief Larry Ekwunife (Ozo Okutaoluoibe) have been very supportive of the activities of the town union, promising that the Senator will get all the support she needs in her bid to become the next governor of the state.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman of the Project Committee, Chief Victor Okpoko and the President of Nri Youth Assembly, Mr. Christian Madichie appreciated Ekwunife for her contributions towards the peace and development of the community, describing it as exceeding. Mr. Madichie assured Ekwunife that the youths of the community are not only working tirelessly but in unison in support of her guber aspiration.
