NSCDC Welcomes New Commandant For Anambra, Parades Four Suspects For Adulterated Products

Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps has welcomed a New Commandant for the command, Mr Evaristus Obiyo.

The New Commandant, Mr Obiyo also used the event to parade four suspects for dealing in adulterated products.

Parading the suspects at the command headquarters in Awka, Mr Obiyo assured the state of intensified patrol in all nooks and crannies of the state .

The arrival of the new Commandant, Mr Obiyo is coming on the heels of the recognition of the State by the Federal Government as an oil producing State.

This, the new Commandant says calls for need to prepare and ensure that all sharp practices in the oil and gas sector of the state is nipped in the bud.

According to him, his deployment to the state will come with the sanitization of the petroleum sector as NSCDC headquarters has received several reports on activities of illegal dealers in adulterated oil products.

He noted that in quick response to his mandate, the command intercepted and arrested four suspects on 23rd September 2021 namely Mohammed Nuradden, Male, aged 30, Sani Zubaru, Male aged 43, Abdullahi Lawal male aged 33 and Suleman Mohammed male 36.

The four suspects are all from Kaduna state.

The suspects were intercepted with two trucks loaded with 45,000 litres each of Low Pour Fuel Oil(LPFO) otherwise known as black oil at Onitsha-Owerri road Ihiala of the state while transporting the suspected adulterated petroleum products in a branded trucks.

Mr. Obiyo revealed that preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects are licensed to deal in petroleum products, while the trucks do not have the permit to be used for conveying the commodities.

He pointed out that upon investigation the suspects admitted and confessed to the various criminal roles they played, while a comparative investigation is on top gear, after which they will be arraigned in court.

The command calls for continuous cooperation and support from Ndi Anambra and residents alike with credible information towards the actualization of the core mandate of the command.

The new state commandant was accompanied during the parade by some senior officers of the command.
