Okada Riders In Anambra To Get Enumeration, Branding & Certification

Anambra state government is to commence enumeration, branding and certification of commercial motorcycle riders popularly known as “okada”.

Anambra Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu who stated this while receiving members of Anambra Professional Photographers and Videographers Association who paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Awka, also stressed the need for enumeration, certification and validation of their members to know their numerical strength.

Commissioner Nwosu noted that enumeration of the okada riders is in line with the measures that is being taken by government to know who is who in the state which he said is very important to the administration of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo in improving the security situation in the state.

Sir Paul who reminded them that they are into the business of image making as images talk louder than words and voice told them that their work is beyond taking pictures and videos in return for money but could be strategic in the work of security personnel since their performance depends on the information they get.

The Information Commissioner stated that government is in the process of reviewing over 200 laws and introducing new ones and charged them to do their work in a responsible manner and add creativity to bring dignity to the profession as they have limitless opportunities in the profession.

Earlier, the chairman of the association, Comrade Obinna Okonkwo said that the aim of their visit was to familiarize with the Commissioner, intimate him on the activities of the association and to discuss possible areas of collaboration which they believe will build a strong and mutual relationship.
