The leading aspirant for the November 6 governorship election under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Uche Ekwunife, has reassured the party delegates that her quest to serve the state as a Governor is to change the face of governance. The Senator said that she has a pragmatic blueprint aimed at driving economic recovery, education, health and high quality infrastructure in the state.
Ekwunife, who was speaking recently at Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka LGA, during a meeting called at the instance of the PDP House of Assembly Candidate for Njikoka 1 Constituency in the last elections, Hon. Engr. Prestige Okafor noted that the upcoming gubernatorial election will be a defining moment for the party. She said that she is optimistic that she will win the election if given the ticket, noting that her government will ensure quality service delivery.
Recalling her achievements on the floor of the senate, the Igbo-Ukwu born Senator noted that testimonies of her effectual representation abound in all the communities in her zone, saying that her candidature will come with resplendent of legislative accomplishments to campaign with.
Few of the Senator’s projects in Enugwu-Ukwu community include Umuorji village Road Enugwu-Ukwu, E. Onyeagba Road Enugwu-Ukwu and Nkwo market stalls, et al.
On the issue of gender, Ekwunife who is the only aspirant who enjoys dual indigenship amongst other aspirants emphasized that there are good administrators in both men and women, assuring that Anambra state which according to her is a commercial state will maximize its potential under her watch.
Astonished by the performance of Ekwunife, a stakeholder in the LGA, Mr. Mike Nwanwi said that the Senator has performed excellently well in the National Assembly, adding that she has built roads, houses, presented impactful motions and bills, as well as facilitated employment for many youths alongside other programmes for constituents.
Mr. Nwanwi who is the Vice Chairman of Enugwu-Ukwu Ward 1 said that the Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology has tremendous goodwill and support to win the election, assuring that he will alongside others work assiduously to ensure Ekwunife emerges as the next Governor of the state.
Earlier, Hon. Okafor who officially declared support for Ekwunife ahead of the primary election noted that he chose the theme: IYOM – The Truth, The Way and The Win because the Senator has the competence and capacity to dislodge APGA in Agu Awka. He unambiguously said that Ekwunife is the surest route for the party to win the election.
