—Commissions A Block Of Classrooms In Umudioka
The leading aspirant for the November 6 governorship election under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Uche Ekwunife, has reassured that her government will meaningfully engage the youths, describing their participation and representation in political processes and policy-making as crucial in the advancement of development in the society.
Ekwunife, who on Monday, May 24, 2021, commissioned a block of classrooms she built at Wisdom Primary School, Umudioka, Dunukofia LGA, noted that when young people are systematically involved in governance they can embolden powerful transformation by applying skills, innovation and creativity. The Senator however promised that by the grace of God when she becomes the next governor of the state she will prioritise education and create an enabling environment for investment to thrive which according to her will enhance job creation and reduce unemployment.
The President General of the community, Chief Chika Udoji while welcoming Ekwunife conveyed deep appreciation to the Senator, describing her as a developmental-driven lawmaker. He thanked Ekwunife for erecting the block of classrooms in the school, adding that it will improve the learning standard of the school.
Chief Udoji while recalling Ekwunife’s contributions noted that apart from the block of classrooms that there are other projects which includes an ongoing road project as well as employments secured by the Senator for many graduates in the community.
On her part, the head mistress of the school, Mrs. Charity Adaife Uchendu described Ekwunife as a woman of honour, adding that the project means the students will learn under a better learning condition. She said that she was overwhelmed with happiness because she had not seen such a lawmaker since her sojourn in the teaching profession.
Speaking on behalf of the pupils, Master Ifeanyichukwu Kalu noted that they are proud of Ekwunife, adding that God will continue to bless her endeavours. He promised that the pupils will take their studies seriously.
On the strength of the appreciation showered on the Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology, a daughter of the soil, Princess Oby Obi, a long serving staff of the Senator who spoke at the gathering described Ekwunife as Mother Theresa of our time. She said that Ekwunife is a blessing to humanity.
Talking on, Mrs. Oby narrated how the Senator whom she has a good working relationship with absorbed her over a decade ago. She told the community that Ekwunife has bettered her life, adding that the Senator opened a standard boutique and salon for her as well as gifted her with a car. Not to miss on the list was the grant she facilitated for her.
As usual, Ekwunife earlier before the commissioning led her entourage which include the former deputy governor of Anambra state, HE Chief Abolle Okoyeagu to pay homage to the traditional ruler of Umudioka HRH Igwe Raphael Chukwurah, Ezedioka II. While at the palace, the Senator made remarks on last Sunday night’s ugly incident where the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC ) and a police division in the state capital were reportedly attacked by hoodlums. She described the security crisis as akin to the failure of the state, adding that the challenge is a national emergency that must be carefully and intelligently addressed. Ekwunife however commended the Anambra State Police Command for its gallant response while calling on the Federal and state governments to rise to the occasion to tackle the challenge.
Reacting, Igwe Chukwurah thanked the Senator for all she does for the community, saying that he is hopeful that as a governor Ekwunife will do more. He prayed and wished Ekwunife success in her guber aspiration.
