As the country mourns the over 50 worshippers who were gruesomely massacred by assailants who stormed St Francis Catholic Church, Owo , Ondo State , the Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike,J.P has berated the heinous act describing it as retrogressive and painful.
The sports philanthropist sounded that invading a place of worship killing innocents including children and toddlers is grievous sin, spilling the blood of the worshippers.
Ejidike said: “These people had gone to church to worship God and pour their supplications unto their saviour. Not only that, they want a better country called Nigeria through divine intervention only to have their lives terminated; the nation is experiencing a state of anarchy, and, unless the federal government takes a head long approach, the security of Nigeria will be in jeopardy”.
The Nigeria Pillar of Sports empathize with the people of Ondo State particularly the Catholic Church family over the loss and prayed that God will give a repentant heart to the perpetrators even as he tasked the government to use every security apparatus to expose them and face the wrath of the law.
He lamented the incessant attacks kidnappings and banditry act which remain unabated as he similarly tasked the security agents to step up their strategies to arrest those who are involved.
Ejidike prayed God for the repose of the souls of the deceased.
It would be recalled that armed men entered St Francis Catholic church in the town of Owo and fired at the congregation during a service to mark the holiday of Pentecost.
