Party Primaries: INEC Deals A Huge Blow To Riggers

… U-AYA, PDP bribe takers may lose out.

INEC has just helped some APGA, APC and PDP Governorship Aspirants against the plans of some party leaders to rig the primaries for Anambra state November 6 governorship election.

In a schedule of activities released earlier today by INEC commissioner for Information, Mr Festus Okoye, INEC said all political parties that opt for indirect primaries, must submit the list of the delegates to the Commission as well as names of aspirants at least 7 days before the conduct of primaries.

Political Party holding direct primaries must make the list of all their members in the state available for inspection by monitors from the Commission as well as their aspirants and party members.

With the above guidelines from INEC, the provision made in PDP’s timetable that the list of delegates will be released on June 25 as against the primaries on June 26 can no longer hold.

With this INEC position, PDP must release her delegate list, 7 days before their primaries on June 26.

Similarly, the APGA cabal has been handicapped here. Their plot to compile the party’s delegate list made of U-AYA and U-AWA members, force it on Oye and release it at the venue of the primary election has also been defeated.

APGA whose primary election is slated to hold on June 23, must make available her delegate list to INEC on June 16.

However. APC has indicated that the party will hold a direct primaries in Anambra. INEC has now said APC or other parties holding direct primaries must make the list of all their members in the state available for inspection.

This is a commendable move by INEC to ensure a credible process in the party’s primaries for November 6 governorship election.

Every Aspirant should begin to do the needful now.
