Passenger Caught Stealing N1 Million Onboard Air Peace Flight, Despite Police Release on Bail

A passenger on Air Peace flight P47192 from Abuja to Port Harcourt was caught allegedly stealing N1 million from another passenger’s bag on July 27. The suspect was apprehended with the help of airline staff after taking the money from a brown envelope and relocating to a different seat.

The incident highlights a concerning trend of in-flight theft reported on various airlines in Nigeria recently. After the theft was discovered, the suspect was handed over to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) security operatives, who subsequently transferred him to the police for further investigations.

Surprisingly, the police released the suspect on bail, citing a lack of willingness from the victim to pursue prosecution. Air Peace spokesperson, Mr. Stanley Olisa, emphasized the importance of security consciousness among airline staff and urged passengers to remain vigilant with their personal belongings during flights.
