Pastor Urges Christians to Stand Firm Against Muslim-Muslim Presidency Reality

In a passionate address to her congregation, Pastor Sarah Omakwu, the Senior Pastor of Family Worship Centre, has called on Christians not to acquiesce to the prevailing reality of a Muslim-Muslim presidency in the country. Her message comes in the wake of the controversial victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Vice, Kashim Shettima, both representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the February 25 presidential election, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The duo was subsequently inaugurated on May 29, 2023, despite objections from various Christian groups.

Although the issue had sparked widespread outcry initially, it has gradually receded from public discourse in recent times. Pastor Omakwu, however, is determined not to let the matter fade away without a fight. In a viral video capturing her powerful sermon, she questioned the collective willingness to move on from the contentious election outcome.

The pastor emphasized the inconsistency in the stance taken by Nigerians, pointing out the contradiction of expressing disapproval of a Muslim-Muslim ticket while eventually accepting its outcome and moving forward. Pastor Omakwu firmly stated, “I came to say, no, we can’t accept it. This government is still Muslim-Muslim. And some of you have accepted it. You are even wishing that somebody you know would be made minister. Ministers over what? Ministers over illegality?”

Her passionate address has reignited discussions surrounding the legitimacy of the current presidency and its alignment with Nigeria’s diverse religious landscape. The video of Pastor Omakwu’s resolute message has been widely shared on social media platforms, garnering support and appreciation from those who share her concerns.

As the nation grapples with the implications of this bold stand against the status quo, it remains to be seen whether Pastor Omakwu’s call for unwavering resistance to the Muslim-Muslim presidency reality will gain momentum and inspire further dialogue on this important matter.
