Peace Returns To Nkwelle Ezunaka In Oyi LGA After Over Eight years Communal Crisis, Courtesy Anambra Govt

Anambra State Government has restored peace among the warring factions in Nkwelle Ezunaka community, Oyi Council Area, after over Eight years of communal crisis.

The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr Collins Nwabunwanne, who brokered the peace during a reconciliatory meeting with the warring parties in his office at Government, House Awka, made them to understand that Governor Soludo is passionate about seeing warring communities return to peace for development and progress.

Commissioner Nwabunwanne reminded them of the need for peaceful coexistence as no meaningful development will take place in an atmosphere of bitterness and rancour.

The commissioner said the elected Executives would pilot the affairs of the town for six months, that is from now till December in line with the court ruling before another election will be conducted to produce another Executive

Those elected Executives would help to reposition the community and also work with state government to produce the traditional ruler in due course to enable them get their fair share of democracy dividends from the state government largesse.

The President-General of Nkwelle Ezunaka, Honourable Leonard Areh – Onyenze, in his remarks, said he would remain ever grateful to Governor Soludo and his able Commissioner, Hon. Nwabunwanne, for being able to effect the reconciliation after many years of squabbles.

Mr Areh-Onyenze intimated that the crisis which had rocked his community for more than Eight years started when their former traditional ruler died.

He assured the state government that he so desired to put an end to the age-long crisis for peace, progress and stability in the town.

Some of the Executives members present such as Ogbuefi Willie Okafor, Engr Dike Ndulu, Sir Everistus Nwachiemelu, Nze Chidozie Dibor And Ogbuefi James Odife in their separate reactions, applauded the Governor and Commissioner for the reconciliation.

They promised that the factions will sheath their swords to pave way for New election in December 2022, according to the dictates of Nkwelle Ezunaka constitution.
