As Police Recover Abandoned Vehicle Used by Armed Assailants
The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has ordered a full investigation into the murder of three individuals and the injury of five others at Isionye Land, the boundary between Enugwu-Ukwu and Nwafia, on September 9, 2024. The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m.
Preliminary reports suggest that the victims were lured to the location under the pretense of a land transaction, where they were ambushed and attacked with firearms and machetes.
In response to the tragedy, CP Itam has called for calm as police operatives intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators. Authorities have already recovered the Sienna vehicle abandoned by the assailants at the scene. Testimonies from the injured victims, who are currently receiving treatment at a hospital, are aiding the ongoing investigation. The bodies of the deceased have been deposited in the morgue.
