President Tinubu Initiates Leadership Changes in Key Government Agencies

President Bola Tinubu has directed the Director-General and CEO of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Aliyu Abubakar Aziz, to begin a 90-day pre-retirement leave. As per the directive, Aziz’s leave will commence on August 24, 2023, leading to his eventual retirement from service on November 24, 2023.

The announcement was made through a statement issued by presidential spokesperson Ajure Ngelale. The statement also revealed that President Tinubu has approved the appointment of Bisoye Coker-Odusote as the acting Director-General and CEO of NIMC for a 90-day interim period. Coker-Odusote’s appointment will be effective from August 24, 2023, and will be followed by a full four-year term as the substantive NIMC Director-General/CEO starting on November 24, 2023.

In addition to these changes, President Tinubu has also sanctioned the appointment of Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub as the Director and CEO of the Directorate of Technical Aid Corps (DTAC). This appointment comes after the tenure of the former DTAC Director and CEO, Dr. Pius Osunyikanmi, recently concluded. Yakub’s new role will take immediate effect.

These strategic appointments mark a shift in leadership within key government agencies, signaling President Tinubu’s commitment to effective governance and the continued growth of these critical institutions.
