Stanley Eguma, the manager of Rivers United, is determined to lead his team to the NPFL Super 6 playoffs despite their recent loss to top rival, Lobi Stars. Rivers United, the current NPFL Cup holders and Group B playoff contenders, lost to Lobi Stars in a rescheduled match on Wednesday, which extended Lobi Stars’ lead at the top.
Despite the defeat, Eguma blamed tactical errors and affirmed that his team remains focused on retaining their title and qualifying for the Super 6 playoffs. Rivers United recently qualified for the knockout stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, and Eguma is optimistic about his team’s chances.
After the loss to Lobi Stars, Eguma noted that the league is an abridged one, and teams must qualify for the Super 6 playoffs. He reiterated that Rivers United aims to be one of the candidates to play in the Super 6 playoffs, which is their target. Eguma described the match against Lobi Stars as balanced, and he believes that his team was at a disadvantage due to five yellow cards and one expulsion.
