SAN abducted, two aides killed and three policemen injured in Rivers State

In a shocking incident, gunmen attacked a convoy in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, killing two aides and injuring three police escorts attached to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). The attackers then proceeded to abduct the SAN, whose name has not yet been released.

According to reports, the kidnappers were dressed in military camouflage and had been trailing the convoy for some time before launching their attack at around 3pm on Sunday, near the Obiri-Ikwerre interchange in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Eyewitnesses say that the kidnappers shot at the tyres of the police van carrying the injured officers, causing the driver to lose control and leading to the vehicle’s subsequent crash. The kidnappers then fled the scene with the SAN.

The Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident and stated that the Commissioner of Police has mobilized resources to secure the unconditional release of the victim. While none of the police escorts died, all three were injured and have been hospitalized.

The abduction of the SAN has sent shockwaves through the legal community and the wider public. The motive for the attack and the identity of the kidnappers are not yet known, and investigations are ongoing.
