Christy Uba has been named acting Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps.
Mrs. Uba will lead NYSC until a director general is appointed.
Christy Uba, the National Youth Service Corps’ Director of Information and Communications Technology, has been named acting Director-General.
She’s the first woman to be appointed head of the NYSC since the organisation was founded almost fifty years ago.
According to a statement that was released on Tuesday by Eddy Megwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations for the National Youth Service Corps, the appointment came after the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), removed Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah from his position as DG.
Mrs. Uba will lead NYSC until a substantive Director General is appointed, according to the statement.
“The scheme’s most senior director has taken over control of the corps in the function of overseer, pending Mr. President’s selection of a substantive Director General,” Megwa said.
