See The States Where Pigeons Refused To Fly During Armed Forces Remembrance (Video)


15th January of every year is Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day. A day Nigerians all over the world remember the fallen heroes who paid the ultimate prize.
During the commemoration, white pigeons are released from the cage to fly. This activity is performed by the president of Nigeria and governors of different states. The white pigeons represent peace while the act of flying out from the cage signifies freedom.

This year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day was unusual. The pigeons in some states refused to fly when they were released.
Below are four states where pigeons refused to fly at the Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

Abuja: APC
Pigeons released as a tradition in commemoration of Armed Forces Remembrance Day by President Muhammadu Buhari refused to fly, causing mixed reactions on social media. President Buhari was seen trying on multiple occasions to release the birds but they only ended up sitting on the cage.

Lagos State: APC
In Lagos state, the governor of Lagos state His Excellency Babajide Sanwo-Olu was caught on camera using a stick and forcefully trying to release the pigeons from the cage. The pigeons refused to fly and only ended up sitting on the cage.

Ogun State: APC
In Ogun state, the governor of Ogun state Dapo Abiodun who was represented by his deputy Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, who released the pigeons. The deputy governor was given the first pigeon and she threw it up but the pigeon refused to fly. Looking disappointed, the deputy governor requested for another pigeon and when given, she threw it and the second one refused to fly. She made four attempts and later gave up when all the pigeons she threw none flew.

Imo State: APC
The same event occurred in Imo state. The governor of Imo state was caught on camera trying several times to make the pigeons he released to fly but none flew. While one of the pigeons he threw fell on the table which the cage was on, others fell to the ground.

Cross River State: PDP
In Cross River state, the governor of the state Benedict Ayade was caught on camera approaching the cage in which the pigeons were. Getting to the cage he collected a scissor and cut off the ribbon then opened the cage. The moment the governor opened the cage, before he could put his hand to bring out a pigeon and throw as his counterparts did, all the pigeons in the cage flew away and the governor ended up not touching even one pigeon.
