The leading contender in the coming Anambra Gubernatorial election and candidate of the All Progressives Congress Sen Andy Uba today visited the Mbuze iheokparanwa erosion site located at Achina in Aguata LGA of Anambra State.
The former lawmaker was accompanied to the site by Achina APC party leaders who took him on a tour of the erosion plagued community for the Guber candidate to have first hand knowledge of the issues bothering the community.
In his remarks, the leading candidate in the upcoming November 6th, 2021 gubernatorial election lamented the extent of damage the erosion had done to the community and stressed his pain at the plight of the community inspite of all the funds the present Anambra State government had been receiving for erosion control. The former lawmaker lamented that while at the Senate, he was amongst lawmakers who spoke always about the ecological funds utilization and the need to confront our environmental challenges headlong.
Sen Andy Uba lamented that he was particularly pained that funds where not utilized to stop the menace of erosion in his home state of Anambra inspite of all his commitment and contributions to erosion control issues on the floor of the Senate Chambers of the National Assembly.
He pledged his commitment to carrying out a total rehabilitation and restoration of the erosion laden areas in Achina and beyond. He informed the audience that the environmental issues are a key component of his electoral manifesto and, when elected Governor, he will pursue vigorously the process of getting into Anambra State, intervention programs from multilateral organizations, the Federal government and international development partners.
He assured the people of Achina that having visited the site, he will ensure that the erosion control would be one of his first projects when he is elected into office
