Lagos, Nigeria – The eagerly awaited Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Maths (STEAM) summer program, She Creates 2023 Camp, has officially opened its doors to girls looking to delve into the world of technology and acquire valuable skills. Aimed at bridging the gender gap in the tech industry, the program is geared towards girls aged 13 to 17 years and seeks to provide early intervention, challenge stereotypes, and ignite a passion for technology.
Scheduled to take place from August 6th to August 19th, 2023, in the bustling city of Lagos, the She Creates 2023 Camp will center around the theme “Solve With AI” and will delve into the realms of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Software Development.
Mrs. Oreoluwa Lesi, the dedicated Executive Director of Women in Tech (WTECH), expressed her excitement about the upcoming camp. She stated, “This program is an invaluable opportunity for young girls to shape their future careers, guided by mentors and accomplished women already making strides in these fields. Our aim is to foster innovative thinking, empowering girls to develop critical skills in a supportive environment while equipping them with life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and etiquette.”
The She Creates 2023 Camp promises an enriching curriculum, encompassing a wide array of tech-focused subjects. Participants can look forward to engaging sessions on computer programming, robotics, mobile application development, graphics designing, renewable energy, digital film production, artificial intelligence (AI), chemical science, digital electronics technology, and digital animation programming.
Mrs. Lesi emphasized that these digital skills are designed to cultivate a budding interest in computer science, information technology, engineering, medicine, and other STEAM-related career paths among young school girls.
