To free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from incarceration has become an important Igbo project. Ndigbo have committed themselves to pursue it with every sense of purpose and responsibility. It is however confusing how the same Ndigbo have borne the brunt of horrendous violence resulting from Nnamdi Kanu’s continued incarceration.
When Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is eventually released, it would not be as a result of the senseless sit at home order nor the avoidable bloodletting flowing across the whole region today. If we allowed the political negotiation initiated by our elders to flourish, his freedom could be sooner than expected.
Just last week, the home of President General, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Professor George Obiozor was razed down. It is rather unfortunate that a man who has committed his life to work for Ndigbo was rewarded with such brazen ingratitude.
Let it be said that those who continue to make Alaigbo insecure and unlivable do not act as the representatives of our people. Majority of Ndigbo want to live in peace and eke out a living through hardwork and dedication.
Those who spill the blood of their brothers are the real enemies of Ndigbo. No country had ever become free by spilling the blood of their own nor subjecting their fellow citizens to unwarranted attacks, intimidations or deaths. Let’s join together to fix our region.
I often wonder how much more we intend to tolerate the level of insecurity in the South East. Just like in Thomas Hobbesian State of Nature, life has become solitary, short, nasty, brutish and poor.
We are mired in constant state of war declared by ourselves against ourselves. The good people of South East are confused, terrified and helpless. Our dear region is bleeding and there is no other way to halt further damage than to stop the violence NOW.
It is time for us to disarm ourselves and join the new crusade in rebuilding ourselves and our dear region. We are happy that our new Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo understands the desperation of the moment. Ndi Anambra and indeed all South Easterners do not deserve to live in this despicable condition for one more day.
We must listen to all genuine agitations and all areas of grievances would be discussed. I am very confident that all genuine agitators are interested in peace building and the development of Igbo land.
There is an opportunity to achieve a prosperous homeland through pragmatic leadership Prof. Soludo is offering. It is exciting to note that IPOB has already shown their willingness to cooperate with our new Governor in his bid to rid the State of criminal elements.
There is no doubt that those who genuinely love Ndigbo would partner with the new government in lifting majority of Anambra out of poverty, creating an industrial hub in the state, revolutionizing agriculture, stamping out corruption, rebuilding our decayed infrastructure and making investment in technology. When we put in place a government we deserve, nobody would cry for marginalization any longer. Other regions would apply for our template for economic emancipation.
