Governor Chukwuma Soludo has reiterated his dedication to enhancing the quality of education in Anambra State to match global standards. Speaking at the 9th Conference of Delegates and 7th Quadrennial Conference of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) in Anambra State, Governor Soludo emphasized the pivotal role that quality teachers and teaching play in shaping a nation’s future.
The event, held at the Teacher’s House in Awka, saw the convergence of various stakeholders from the education sector in the state, including the Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, Chairman of the Post Primary School Service Commission, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu, counterpart from the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Vera Nwadinobi, as well as representatives from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
Governor Soludo, addressing the audience, affirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to investing in the education system. He pledged to focus on cultivating high-quality educators and instructional practices that would help produce a refined human resource pool, which he deemed a pivotal asset for the state.
The Governor assured attendees that public schools in Anambra would undergo significant restructuring before the commencement of the new school year in September, expressing optimism that Anambra’s public schools would experience a revitalization.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s current economic situation, Governor Soludo characterized the nation as being in a long-overdue transition that necessitates substantial sacrifices. He assured the gathering that his administration was dedicated to mitigating the effects of these transformative changes on the people of Anambra.
Furthermore, Governor Soludo emphasized his administration’s ongoing commitment to creating a thriving and prosperous Anambra. He outlined the execution of essential infrastructure and policy frameworks as key components of achieving this vision.
Commending the teachers for their exceptional dedication, Governor Soludo encouraged them to maintain their high standards of service delivery, recognizing their vital role in nurturing children to become positive agents of change in society.
In her address, Comrade Nonye Chibueze, the Anambra State Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, urged fellow educators to consistently exceed expectations in shaping the future. She expressed gratitude to Governor Soludo for his significant investments in the education sector, which she noted had markedly improved teachers’ productivity and welfare.
As a demonstration of their appreciation for Governor Soludo’s commitment to both the well-being of teachers and the advancement of the Anambra project, the teachers united in solidarity chants, underscoring the collaborative spirit between educators and the state administration.
