Soludo, Obi, Others Emerge As Mayors For World Peace

As part of events marking the 2022 World Peace Day, the United Nations Peace and Positive Living Awareness Centre, UN-PEPOLAC, has appointed Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, and Labour Party Presidential Candidate in the 2023 General election, Mr. Peter Obi as Mayors for World Peace.

Over seventy eminent Nigerians also received special recognitions whom the UN-PEPOLAC believed to have consciously made significant contributions in the promotion of peace across Nigeria.

Notable among them include; the Archbishop, Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Sir Chido Obidiegwu, Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Charles Esimone, Honourable Ifeanyi Metuh of Abatete, Mrs Ify Unachukwu and Reverend Ejike Abana of the ABS among others.

With the theme of the celebration, ‘End Racism, Build Peace’, the event attracted peace ambassadors, traditional rulers, the clergy and people from all walks of life.

In a remark, Governor Soludo represented by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, said his administration place high premium on peace and stability, which led to the inauguration of fifteenth man justice and peace Committee, with the mandate of fostering peace across the state and south east Nigeria

He urged everyone to walk on the path of peace, as no meaningful development thrive where there is insecurity and racism.

The Managing Director of ABS, Sir. Chido, thanked the UN-PEPOLAC for the special recognition and pledged to ensure that peace is achieved in Anambra and all part of the world.

He assured that ABS will be at the front burner in communicating peace all over the world.

The International Coordinator of UN-PEPOLAC Nigeria, Right Reverend Dr. Ozioma Ozoemena, in his keynote speech, described this year’s event as unique and called for the urgent need to establish peace building and conflict management agency in Anambra State in line with Professor Soludo’s administration in achieving a peaceful, livable and prosperous new Anambra.

He requested that the government of Soludo to partner them to ensure the completion of their two hundred million project is completed, while describing the Governor as one who ascribes to the ideal of peace and the international solidarity.
