An Awka based Pharmacist, Mrs. Oby Onuko has called on Nigerians to take their health seriously by regularly consulting their physicians on health matters so as to stay away from avoidable deaths.
Mrs. Onuko who gave this advise while speaking to ABS Health Correspondent, Chibuzor Okoye in Awka, regretted the level at which most Nigerians, especially the youth die in recent times as a result of heart attacks, high blood pressure, stroke among others.
The medical expert advised Nigerians to be cautious of what they eat and drink, exercise regularly as well as consult their physicians as soon as they notice any abnormality in their body to avoid unnecessary deaths.
Pharmacist Onuko pointed out that many foods and drinks most Nigerians consume on daily basis turn out to be their source of illness without many of them knowing it, and urged people to stay away from processed foods as much as they can.
She equally advised that people should try to avoid unnecessary stress, take more of fruits and vegetables, rather than consuming what they do not know how it was packaged and preserved.
The pharmacist further urged government at all levels, as well as the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to ensure that Nigerian markets are rid of all forms of unwholesome foods and beverages that are harmful to peoples health.
