Tell Gov Obiano That What’s Good For Goose Is Good For Gander

When a crime is committed by a group of persons, it will be wrong to pardon some and punish some. This is what gov Obiano has done in the case of the traditional rulers who were suspended for accompanying Prince Engr Arthur Eze to a visit to the Presidency.

Thirteen traditional rulers were reported to have visited the Presidency on August 11. The visit angered gov Obiano who claimed that the traditional rulers did not take permissions from him before travelling out of the state for such an official visit to the Presidency.

He therefore suspended 13 of them. They are;

  1. Igwe Alex Edozieuno of Mkpunando Aguleri
  2. Igwe Mark-Anthony Okonkwo of Alor
  3. Igwe Chukuwma Orji of Ezinifite
  4. Igwe G.B.C Mbakwe of Abacha
  5. Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo of Nawfa
  6. Igwe Nkeli Nelly of Igbarim.
  7. Igwe Anthony Onyekwere of Owelle
  8. Igwe A. N. Onwuneme of Ikenga
  9. Igwe Ikechukwu Chidubem of Umumbo
  10. Igwe S. O. Uche of Ezira
  11. Igwe Emeka Ilouno of Ifitedunu
  12. Igwe Peter Ikegbunem Udoji of Eziagulu Otu Aguleri
  13. Igwe Peter . A. Uyanwa of Ukwulu.

But surprisingly, on December 17, gov Obiano lifted the suspension of only 5 of the traditional rulers, sacked 5 outrightly and retained the continued suspension of 3.

The 5 monarchs whose suspensions are lifted are;

  1. gwe Simon Ikechukwu Chidubem of Umumbo
  2. Igwe A.N Onwuneme of Ikenga
  3. Igwe Mark Anthony Okonkwo of Alor
  4. Igwe Chukwuma Bob Vincent Orji of Ezinifite
  5. Igwe S.O Uche of Ezira.

Those sacked outrightly and their Certificates of Recognition withdrawn are;

  1. Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo of Nawfia
  2. Igwe Anthony Onyekwere of Owelle
  3. Igwe G. B. C Mbakwe of Abacha.
  4. Igwe Alex Edozieuno of Mkpunando Aguleri
  5. Igwe Peter Ikegbunem Udoji of Eziagulu Otu Aguleri.

The monarchs whose remain suspended are;

  1. Igwe Kelly N. Nkeli of Igbariam

The question is, who is advising gov Obiano? These 13 traditional rulers were suspended based on alleged disobedience to existing protocol. They did not inform the governor before embarking on an official visit to Abuja to meet with President Buhari.

How come he lifted the suspension of some, sacked some and retained the suspension of some?

He should take the advice of Senator Ikemba Ifeanyi Ubah and other meaning leaders in the state and reinstate all these traditional rulers.

He must them equally since they committed same offence that led to their suspension. What he has done is creating divisions and unnecessary crisis in most of these communities.

What’s good for the goose is also good for the gander.
