The Dangers Of A One Side Story; The Demonisation Of Chris Uba and the Real Story

By Chukwudi Okeke

The people’s democratic party is Nigeria’s most celebrated party. Beyond the fact that it plays the opposition, the greater parts of Nigerians loved and missed them dearly. In the same vein, the party which is mostly subscribed by every region of Nigeria has always had a very strong followership in the Igbo-speaking region. From 1999 to day, no region has delivered a 75 percent lead for any party as the South Easterners will also give to the PDP, during any and every presidential election.

The PDP Anambra, on the other hand, is always enshrined in some complicated cases or the other. It is always a case of media affronts against the person of Chris Uba and his brother, Ugochukwu Uba. Chris Uba, who has never left the party nor forsaken party causes is always unjustly attacked by ‘newbies’ in the party, that has invested little or nothing to the growth of the party in the state – they swing in with their sparse popularity, to dislodge stakeholders, holding it down for the party, and this occurs only during the election period.

The media too has been very unjust to Chris Uba, not because he is what they say he is, but because he barely patronizes them, so they see this as some sort of punishment and attention, so he could call on them to help with some image laundering and reputation build up. He has paid his dues for the party, and folks returning only during the election, with nasty media expeditions against the person of Chris Uba is just to shift the focus of Nigerians from questioning their loyalty and dedication to the party.

The big question is, why is PDP national always with Chris Uba despite the whole demonization of his person?

Who has never left the party from it’s first day of inception to this very day?

These questions and many more are salient questions that anyone that needs to understand the workings of the party, despite the media onslaught on the person of Chris Uba should ask.

Chris Uba is passionate about the PDP, he has proven it without doubt and has always stood for the party in dire situations and chaos.
