Ever since the recent arrest of former Governor Willie Obiano, many APGA media handlers, stakeholders and even Rev. Fr. Ebube Muonso, have exerted unimaginable energy, lampooning the EFCC and claiming the action to be a socalled Fulani agenda that is designed to humiliate an “illustrious Igbo son.”
In the case of Fr. Ebubemuonso, he took his crusade to a whole new ridiculous level when from the altar, he proceeded to utter certain tribalistic and unfortunate words unbecoming of a man of the cloth but it is important that we draw our attention to an extremely glaring fact that continues to stare everyone in the face but which supporters of the former Governor have unfortunately not been able to grasp.
The real question they ought to be asking themselves is,
“WHO STANDS TO DIRECTLY BENEFIT FROM THE CURRENT PUBLIC TRAVAILS OF THE FORMER GOVERNOR?
To answer this question, the reader needs a deeply introspective mind that is devoid of any form of sentiments, for without it, this Truth will continue to stare APGA apologists in the face and they will continue attacking imaginary enemies even when the “enemy” is very much within and in clear sight!
To be clear, Anambra State was raped silly by the Willie Obiano led government in active collaboration with his wife, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano and it is so bad that as we speak, the state is in the kind of serious debt that would take generations unborn, years to pay back.
This was the state of the State’s books when the transition committee set up by then Governor Elect Prof Soludo and led by Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, were opportuned to peruse it and as the team did their discreet forensic audit, it became very glaring and alarming that unless something was done to at least alert ndi Anambra to the calamity Governor Soludo would be inheriting, he would be left to bear the brunt and fallout, long after Chief Willie Obiano must have been relaxing in his Houston Texas swimming pool!
The alarmed team understood that with the astonishing profligacy of the previous government and total looting of state funds, Governor Soludo would simply be walking into a trap & landmine if he allowed Gov Willie Obiano to go scotfree for there was no way he could subsequently justify his government’s inability to meet up to its responsibilities after giving the impression that the transition was smooth and that Governor Willie Obiano handed over a state whose books were healthy.
Knowing what was to come, the then Governor Elect Prof Soludo understood that he was in a serious dilemma for he could not afford to be seen speaking out against the same man that just made him Governor!
He knew that it was too early in the day to begin to raise alarm against a man that he owed so much but he also knew that his silence would ultimately come back to haunt him and so, his team went to work by developing a solid strategy that would see him completely absolved of any complicity in the arrest while ensuring that Governor Willie Obiano gets his day in court.
To achieve this objective, contacts through third parties, were established with the EFCC who on their own had been discreetly investigating the former Governor with the help of moles in his government who had made it a point of duty to be sending extremely vital but damning documents to the EFCC over a long period of time to ensure the agency was fully equipped to interrogate and try former Governor Willie Obiano in court.
On their part, some transition committee members that owed loyalty to former Governor Peter Obi, were busy collating evidence which always had a way of landing on EFCC’s desk.
It is pertinent to note the roles played by Mr. Peter Obi in the immediate past governor’s travails as he directly collaborated with Governor Chukwuma Soludo on this project which would explain his sudden reappearance in Anambra State functions towards the end of the previous administration.
The plan was simple, the EFCC would pick Chief Willie Obiano, detain him and eventually try him in court while Governor Chukwuma Soludo would feign ignorance and actually criticize the move even though he stood to directly benefit from the very public disclosure of unimaginable sleaze that would be levelled against his predecessor, thereby effectively masking his role in the entire incident!
And so as it stands, the EFCC has arrested Chief Willie Obiano and as expected, APGA media handlers, party stakeholders, traditional rulers who benefitted from the sleazy government, the well over 4800 SSA’s, SA’s & EA,”s who for eight years, collected humongous salaries for doing absolutely nothing and Rev Fr. Ebubemuonso, continue to apportion blame elsewhere without knowing that the very source of their frustration is the same man they all toiled and labored to elect!
But to be clear, Governor Soludo really had two options,
1. Act like nothing was stolen and live with the unimaginable consequences; which would place him in good light with APGA loyalists.
Or
2. Seek a way to get the public to be aware of the unimaginable debt and unbalanced books he inherited without appearing to be the instigator. This way, he would still remain in the good books of APGA loyalists but most importantly, the world would get to know and bear with him when he gives excuses that border on paucity of funds!
Obviously Governor Soludo, a Professor and erudite tactician, chose the latter option to ultimately save his neck and protect himself from the rain that would surely come.
The rest, like they say, is history!
