Uke Road Project: Ekwunife Is Charting The Course For Inter-Community Interaction

In the spring of 2020, when the first wave of the novel virus – Coronavirus – forced us into lockdown, almost all – government and private – activities were grounded except very few. We need not the gift of prophecy to know that, for example the medics were on duty treating and saving lives. But last week, we were to learn that, a great thinker cum rare personality – Senator Uche Ekwunife – didn’t put her activities into abeyance.

Upon the first rainfall of the previous year, some areas in Anambra state were submerged, with communities cut off from the rest of the state due to bad roads.

The very important Igwe Ileka road, Uke. Too sad that residents have groaned, instead of, to enjoy road infrastructure crucial for the all-inclusive development of the country. The well known functionalities of the Igwe Ileka- Eke Market- Mpia road axis, lately, have been robbed off residents. Recall, however, that the road connecting to Ogidi, the headquarters of Idemili North, was after the election before the last, a sponsored project of the meticulous Igbo-ukwu born Senator -during her brief stint – as part of her promises to make certain a good road network in the nook and cranny of the zone.

Punctuating lawmaking which is one of the primary responsibilities of lawmakers, Ekwunife, though, not debatable, In less than two years into the 9th Assembly has cemented her place in the hearts and minds of her constituents. At this moment in time, not even naysayers will scoff the attribute that, Ekwunife is an A-grade Senator. She is by all manner of means not a bit-part representative.

Ekwunife at the upend of this past year, all thanks to her mastery in the delineation of representation flagged off many roads project in the zone, few months after lockdown was eased. And this is really the point: While the lockdown ensured, she was both sharing Covid-19 relief materials and working very hard to better the living standards through sterling representation.

Progress report on Igwe Ileka-Eke Market-Mpia road construction – attracted anew- by Uche Ekwunife is applaudable. The inspection visit to the site re-echoed her quest to always ensure quality project being delivered to the people. The Umuazu village, Uke, upon the completion of the road project will have every tear in their eyes wiped away. The effect of the road that halt both pedestrian and vehicular movement, leaving the residents at the mercy of severe flooding will soon become a history.

The 3.5 kilometer Igwe Ileka road would improve inter-community interaction, unlock new areas for development, and impact the local economy. Significantly, these benefits are known to residents as the rolled out drums for Ekwunife in appreciation on the day of inspection in Uke.

Meanwhile, Awka – Ekwulobia road, Timber and building materials market road Umuokpu, Igwe Nwokedi road Achalla, Anagu road Umuoji, Man Dodge Avenue Umudioka to mention but a few are receiving attention courtesy of dedicated Senator better known as Iyom.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology has since her return on the floor of the senate substantially charting the course, facilitating developmental projects as well as composite empowerment. The pedigree, many have said not witnessed before in the Central Senatorial District of the state.

As the new year progresses, though the plenary session has yet to be reconvened, but when they do, for sure Ekwunife will not be found wanting in the legislative activities, while just like the Uke Community many communities will receive more projects in the coming months.
