Umahi’s Defection: See Peter Obi’s Reaction

PDP 2019 Vice Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obj has urged Nigerians to shift their attention from the political drama happening in the polity but rather focus on how the country will progress.

In his statement while responding to a question on Arise TV, he commented on how Governor Umahi, the Ebonyi state governor defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to All Progressive Congress, APC makes no difference in the progress of the country.

He said “as at today Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world. We have the highest number of out of school children. Our employment rate is skyrocketing everyday, foodstuffs prices are soaring higher and people are dying of hunger. Would it be fair for us to turn blind eyes to all these challenges facing our people and occupy ourselves with who leaves a particular political party or who do not”

He urged all well meaning Nigerians and patriotic leaders to work hand in hand to safe the dying economy of the country. He added that 2023 election shouldn’t be the object of discussion now considering the depressing economic situation of the country.

Also in his word he advised that “our common focus should be on saving the country and making our governance fruitful and productive since. The defection of Gov. Umahi to APC won’t add to the economic value of the country”
