The Mass Communication Department of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka in partnership with Beyond Community Care Foundation, BCCF, have unveiled plans to hold the maiden edition of its “Town And Gown Series”.
The event is slated to hold on Thursday, August 19, 2021
Themed “Exploring emerging opportunities in media and communication”, the event will bring a valuable interface between the classroom and industry.
It will also serve as a unique opportunity to get communication practitioners of various fields to interact with the students on the practical issues in the industry so as to prepare them for successful careers in the fast changing world of media and communication.
Addressing the Journalists at a press briefing to unveiling the plans for the event, the Head, Department of Mass Communication of the institution, Professor Chinwe Uzochukwu revealed that the event will house eminent practitioners like a renowned broadcasters and media managers such as Mr. Jika Atoh, Mr. Emma Agu and Mr. Ken Eseni of African Independent Television, AIT.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Anambra Broadcasting Service, Dr. Uche Nworah, and the former commissioner for Information in Anambra Chief Tony Onyima are also expected at the event.
Professor Uzochukwu, while inviting the public to the event appreciated their partners and promised that the outing will be a fruitful and educating one for all to benefit in all aspects of life.
On his part, the Director of BCCF, Mr Onuora Aninwobodo noted that the foundation is a non-governmental and not-for- profit organization which its aim is to develop people and to lift humanity from poverty and hopeless.
He also explained that foundation was birthed by Chief Dennis Ezebuilo from Amanuke and that their work is shown in different efforts to uplift the needy in communities across Nigeria and beyond cutting across provision of affordable and accessible education and health care services for the old and the young.
In a vote of thanks, Professor Stella Okunna thanked the organization for the move which according to her will be of great benefit to the department and institution in general.
