UNYA-NG Anambra, Onitsha North Mayor Seek Partnership to Advance Sustainable Development Goals

Onitsha, Anambra State – August 27, 2025

The Anambra State chapter of the United Nations Youth Association–Nigeria (UNYA-NG) on Wednesday led a high-profile delegation on a working visit to the Mayor of Onitsha North Local Government, Hon. Nweze Tony Nwora.

The delegation, headed by the State Coordinator, Eminent Amb. (Dr.) Chude Arinze Timothy, formally presented a Letter of Introduction to the Mayor at the Local Government Council Headquarters. Dr. Chude was accompanied by the State Secretary General, Pst. Moghalu Paul, and member Mr. Iwuamadi Arinze Chukwudi.

During the visit, the UNYA-NG outlined its core objectives, which include promoting youth empowerment, advancing sustainable community development, and fostering partnerships aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In his remarks, Mayor Nwora commended the association’s efforts and pledged to collaborate with the organization in driving initiatives that would promote the SDGs within Onitsha North.

“I am pleased with this visit and the vision of the United Nations Youth Association–Nigeria. My office will work closely with your team to ensure we build a community that reflects the ideals of sustainable development,” the Mayor said.

Also present at the meeting were Ezennia Nonso Chukwudebe, Chief Press Secretary to the Mayor; Hon. Chukwuemelie Albert Ibekwe, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Trade and Market; and other distinguished personalities.

The visit marks the beginning of a potential strategic partnership between UNYA-NG and Onitsha North Local Government aimed at empowering young people and strengthening community development initiatives in the state.
