Gov. Uzodimma commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for rising up to the global challenges of insecurity and defending our territorial integrity.
The Governor stated that their commitment to service is one of the reasons Nigeria has not been devastated by insurgency.
These were some of his remarks at the end of the Interdenominational Church Service to mark the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration held at the Government House Chapel, Owerri, Imo State.
Credible reports indicate that in the North East, Nigerian soldiers are now winning the war on insurgency because the militants are being decimated in their numbers.
Furthermore, he commended the spouses of the fallen heroes for their resilience, hard work, enterprise and ability to manage their homes irrespective of the fact that the heads of their families lost their lives in the defense of their fatherland.
He enjoin Imolites, in particular and Nigerians, in general, to take all problems to God, at all times. He urged them all to seek the face of God Almighty, thereby gave them the courage to face their challenges, forgive the shortcomings and make Nigeria to be more united, peaceful and a progressive place for all to live in.
The Homily was delivered by Rev. Fr. (Brig. Gen.) Charles Iroegbu (rtd) and attended by members of the Armed Forces in the State, both serving and retired, the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prof. Placid Njoku, other top public office holders /government officials, and widows of fallen heroes.
