The South East and South South Bureau Chief of the Nation Newspaper, Mr Onu Nwanosike has confessed that he recently received a sum of N400,000 from the embattled former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh to use the Nation online platform to propagate lies against the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Uche Ekwunife.
Nwanosike made these confession after he was quried by the Nation newspaper’s management over a story he authored with the caption “Ekwunife mocks Peter Obi’s Presidential ambition”, posted on the online platform of the popular newspaper.
The story which had gone viral had got many wondering how Senator Ekwunife who was one of Peter Obi’s strongest supporters would make such outrageous comments about the former Anambra State Governor.
In an exclusive finding, it was unravelled that Nwanosike took advantage of the PDP stakeholders meeting the Senator called to satisfy his paymaster, Victor Umeh – he neither attended the stakeholders meeting nor had any credible fact to show that the Senator indeed made the statements.
However, sources who were present at the meeting have faulted Nwanosike’s report confirming that Senator Ekwunife as the PDP Senatorial candidate in the zone, simply convened the meeting to inform stakeholders of her preparedness to win her re-election.
While it is not clear why Nwanosike, an experienced Journalist will engage in such jaundiced and unprofessional journalism for the sake of “brown envelope”, it was confirmed that Chief Umeh who is gunning to return to the Senate riding on the popularity of Mr Peter Obi has also engaged the services of other unprofessional journalists to do his dirty bidding.
Meanwhile, Senator Ekwunife when reached by our reporters described the propaganda being sponsored against her as the last kick of a dying horse. She is undettered and confident that she has done enough to earn the support of her constituents ahead of next year’s election.
