Mr. Uzor, the President-General of Anambra Traders’ Forum stated this when he led a delegation of representatives of different Markets in Anambra State to pay a courtesy call on the Commissioner for Commerce, Dr. Obinna Ngonadi, in his office, at the Anambra state secretariat in Awka, the state capital. During the visit to the Commissioner, he warmed that if those individuals creating confusion does not refrain, then, he would not hesitate to expose their dirty deals and their enablers.

Speaking, the leader of Anambra Traders Forum expressed disappointment at the behavior of some market leaders, whom he said are bent on causing confusion so as to perpetuate their sit-tight syndrome. This situation, (sit-tight syndrome) he described as a major source of corruption and tyranny in markets across Anambra state, and then asked the Commissioner to remain on the track of restoring sanity in market administration, with the same energy he started it. While commending the commissioner for the courage to embark on such selfless venture at the risk of his own personal interest, Mr. Uzor noted that some of the people involved will not leave without a fight, hence, it is expected to see funny accusations flying around. However, he maintained that the Commissioner must remain steadfast. “We urged the Commissioner not to be distracted by these individuals that do not mean well for the market or for the state. These people don’t have reputation. Anybody who knows them well can tell you this. Don’t be distracted by their false media trail. They are making an empty noise”, Uzor emphasized.

According to Mr. Uzor, “For the most part, sanity has returned to various markets in the state where these despotic leaders held sway for years. They had no fear for man or for God. So, today, we the traders can see the difference clearly and we know that light and darkness are not the same. You have brought light and we can see and attest to it”, he said.

Mr. Dede Uzor was the Publicity Secretary of AMATAS as well as President of South East Traders’ Forum.

In his reaction, Dr. Obinna Ngonadi described the visit as a good motivation to the daunting task of organizing Anambra markets for optimal productivity and benefit to the government and traders, which has taken much of his time since assumption of office. “What I am assuring you is that we will remain focused. We are partners in progress. Government is not an enemy to traders and today, you are here and you have said that you are in support of the good work we are doing to keep our markets in the best possible shape. Thank you. Mr. Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has given us a clear mandate and we must deliver on it, in the best interest of our dear state”, Ngonadi said.
