At this time that the quality of education drastically is plummeting in the society some persons are leading from the front to ensure that the future is not left in the ruins.
The Senator Representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, on Monday, January 4, 2021, bemoaned on the declining educational standard in the country. She said, that no country can survive without aggressive investment in knowledge. Ekwunife, however, noted that everyone of us have a role to play to improve the standard of education which is a potent weapon to fight ignorance.
The Senator advised that education is a tool for advancement of society, poverty and crime reduction. She called on government at all levels and well-to-do individuals to think towards investment in education.
Ekwunife made this call while speaking at the official handover ceremony of Dr. Sam Ultra Modern Library to the Management Board of St. Mary’s Model Comprehensive College, Ukpo, Dunukofia, Anambra state.
The book room was built by Ichie Obi Onwuakpa in memory of his late brother, Dr. Sam Ifeanyi Onwuakpa.
The Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology congratulated Ichie Onwuakpa for erecting the important edifice to immortalise his late brother.
“I want to congratulate my brother for erecting this very important edifice which provides a very healthy environment for learning and will serve as not only a place to gain knowledge but also a place where history is preserved.
“I thank Ichie Onwuakpa not just for having the money but the mind to invest correctly.”
Ekwunife also congratulated the entire Ukpo community and those who made the day a success.
