We Know You As A Goal Getter – PDP National Organising Secretary Tells Ekwunife

By Linus Chukwuma

The PDP National Organising Secretary, Col. Austin Akobundu (Rtd) has described Senator Uche Ekwunife as a goal-getter and legislator par excellence, noting that the party encourages women to step forward and run for elective positions.

Reacting shortly after Ekwunife on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, submitted her governorship nomination forms at the party national secretariat in Abuja, Akobundu promised that the leadership of the party will ensure a free, fair and credible primary to select who clinches the party ticket ahead of November 6 polls.

Extolling the Senator, he said, “the lady [Uche Ekwunife] is very tough, she is bold, she is tenacious, she is focused, a legislator par excellence and a grassroots politician. If you put all these qualities together, do the sum you’ll know where she is heading to. We don’t have any problem with her aspiration because we know she is goal getter.”

Akobundu, however, noted that based on the available documents of the last general elections from INEC that PDP has the highest number of female candidates in Nigeria. He stated that the party through the governors will accommodate women in all sectors of governance not just 35% but more.

Earlier, Ekwunife urged that to determine the best choice for the party, antecedents should be the yardstick. She said that her representation as a member of National Assembly should leave no one in doubt of her understanding of the workings of government and capacity to deliver on her promises.

“Anambra state is blessed with human capital, we are endowed with people in both formal and informal sectors. All the state needs is a leader who can bring people together. A leader that can build on what the past leaders have done in the state. A leader who understands governance. A leader who understands Nigeria. A leader who has the reach and contact, and I know I am that leader”, remarked Ekwunife.

Recalling her previous election victories, Ekwunife stated without any ambiguity that she has won every election the party gave her their ticket. “I am confident that if I get the party ticket I will return PDP back to Agu Awka”, she said.
