The incoming Governor of Anambra state professor Charles Soludo has stated that his first day of work as a Governor would be spent at Okpoko, a place he has fond memories of, in a bid to rescue the once bubbling neighbourhood from decay.
Dear Soludo, Okpoko at the moment is a distraction. Anambra has far much more problems than the Okpoko slum. Anambra is being besieged and submerged by criminal elements. It is being alleged that three local government out of the 21 local government in Anambra state has been taken over by these elements.
Since October of 2020, Anambra has quietly transformed from a peaceful state to the wild wild west with criminal gangs having a field day while Gov. Willy did nothing. A ferocious cult war has ranged from Ihiala to Okija to, Awka to Oko. On the other hand is the militarization of the state by another group.
My Governor do not go to Okpoko, your first assignment is to restore the authority and the legitimate violence of the state. This is the most important of all the things you should do on your first day at work.
Okpoko can wait.
