Woman Arraigned for Allegedly Biting and Injuring Fellow Lady in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command presented 40-year-old Funmilayo Aduloju before the Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on a charge of assault. According to Inspector Johnson Okunade, the defendant allegedly committed the offence on July 12 at Ekute area, Ado Ekiti, by biting Adetutu Abegunde’s left eye during a fight, causing serious injury. The offence is said to contravene Section 185 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.

At the court hearing, Funmilayo Aduloju pleaded not guilty to the charge, while her counsel, Mr. Opeyemi Esan, sought bail for the defendant, assuring she will not jump bail. Chief Magistrate Mr. A.O Adeosun granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety of the same amount.

The case has been adjourned to August 3 for a hearing, while the police prosecutor, Inspector Okunade, requested more time to study the case file and assemble witnesses.
