Workshop On COVID-19 Action Recovery And Economic Stimulus Program For Results (Nigeria CARES) Holds In Awka

Traditional Rulers and Presidents General of all the communities in Anambra North Senatorial District have been sensitised on how to curtail the effect of COVID-19 in their various communities.

The programme which is powered by the Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency, Awka, in collaboration with the World Bank is targeting Area One of the programm results which is to increase social transfers, basic services and livelihood support to poor and vulnerable households.

The sensitisation workshop aimed at alleviating the poverty posed by COVID-19 to the poor and vulnerable, will cut across all the three Senatorial Districts in the state.

Declaring the workshop open, the Board Chairman of Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency, Igwe Roland Odegbo who is the traditional ruler of Nteje Community,Oyi Council Area, said that the World Bank released twenty million dollars for the program which cuts across ASBA, FADAMA, CASH TRANSFER, among others, to see that the ravaging effects of COVID-19 is curtailed.

He applauded Governor Willie Obiano for initiating the agency through which lives are being touched and charged the traditional rulers and presidents – general to disseminate the message of COVID-19 to their subjects because it is real.

The General Manager Of CSDA, Mr Chudi Mojekwu said the agency during CSDP programm achieved ninty nine percent of the two hundred and fifty projects chosen by the selected communities, noting that Nigeria CARES programm aimed at alleviating abject poverty in the life of the vulnerables.
