By:Tai Emeka Obasi.

In continuation of his local government tour, Engr Chris Emeka Azubogu on Thursday, February 4, called on members of his party to be very careful in selecting a candidate for the 2021 Anambra Gubernatorial election coming up on November 6.

While talking to the party comprising all local government executives, all ward executives and stakeholders representing all of the 16, 12 and 12 wards of Ogbaru, Idemili North and Idemili South Local Government Areas respectively, he reiterated that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP must give ndi Anambra a candidate that can win a very potentially tough election.

“Ndi Anambra generally must accept our candidate for us to stand a chance against other very formidable parties that will contest the election. Part of that acceptability is using wisdom to handle the issue of zoning.

“I’m a member of National Executive Council of our great party. I attend meetings regularly and I know how the issue of zoning in our party is handled at all levels.

“In the last Gubernatorial election of 2017, we had HE Willie Obiano, Hon Tony Nwoye and His Honour Oseloka Obaze flying respective flags of APGA, APC and PDP – all the three parties that took first to third positions in that order.

“All candidates emerging from Anambra North. It means ndi Anambra unanimously agreed that Anambra North Senatorial Zone should complete their tenure. A tenure they took from Anambra Central that held it for 11 years.

“Is there any Anambra person that should not know which zone that deserves to take over in 2022?” He questioned the party representatives in Atani, Ojoto and Ogidi at each turn.

Significantly, the resounding responses from those three quite knowledgeable audiences couriered the fact that people of North and Central zones are not in doubt that their South brothers deserve this very turn.

Then usually at this juncture, the federal lawmaker representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Constituency would add a most appropriate song, “enye ndi ebea, enye ndi ebea, enye ndi ebea, enye ndi ebea…”

A song the audiences took over the chorus and applauded very loudly.

“Yes, zoning does not guarantee victory but not zoning will certainly certify failure. This election is going to be very very tough. Our great party should not start with any disadvantage of not giving ndi Anambra a candidate that should meet all the criteria of acceptance,” he concluded on zoning.

As shants of Mr. Project, Mr. Project reigned loudly, he went on to deliver many more messages.

The tour continues today.
