The South-East zone of the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Project Beyond 2023 has strongly felicitated Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State and his Deputy, Dr Eric Kelechi Igwe over their victory at the Enugu Court of Appeal.
This was contained in a congratulatory message endorsed by Anyigor N. Marcel, the South East Director of Asiwaju Project Beyond 2023, which a copy was made available to our correspondent.
The members of the group who described Umahi as the King David of their time said the judgement of the Court of Appeal affirmed that the governor and his deputy cannot vacate office on the grounds of defection from PDP to the APC.
“Your Excellency, we are all jubilating for your victory and giving glory to God who has perfected it based on the cries of the people of Ebonyi State and South-East at large to him, knowing the transformation that your kind leadership has brought to the state, you are truly a light to the Ebonyians and leadership model worthy of emulation by every generation,” part of the congratulatory message read.
It added: “We commend the unanimous verdict of the justices of the Court of Appeals, which berated the judicial decision of sacking a governor and his deputy on the grounds of defection to another party as this is unconstitutional and would equally amount to damage to the rule of law.
“This judgement has brought a cheering crowd and respect to the judicial arm of our government for reaffirming that the powers to remove the heads of other arms of government have not been ascribed to the judiciary.
“On this ground, some of the leaders on the wrong side will always find light in our able party without the fear of vacating their offices.
“Your excellency, we wish you the best in all the days of your administration as the governor of ebonyi State and pray to have your type in the subsequent leadership of the state. Congratulations once again.”
