Essential Ndubuisi
It can be argued beyond doubt that a healthy economy is the livewire of every society.
That being the case, do you know that in line with his legislative focus which dwells on #PoliticsOfDevelopment, about 90% of rural feeder roads attracted by Rep Chris Emeka Azubogu were built from scratch, thus opening up and energizing local economies?
Well, to fully grasp the quality of impact that the Quintessential Rep has made on local economies within [and beyond] the very expansive federal constituency that he represents in the House of Representatives, it is import to evaluate the quality and scope of his legislative project interventions.
In furtherance of the above therefore, yours truly will, in the days ahead, [beginning with today’s focus], periodically spotlight Azubogu’s select legislative project interventions to further dissect and underscore the quality of his performance.
Accordingly, my focus today is on the very strategic over 5km Traffic Light Umudim Nnewi / Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital [NAUTH] Akammili permanent site inter local government road constructed from scratch in three [3] phases.
The road links Nnewi North LGA to Ekwusigo through Irefi – Oraifite; with dual spurs to Eziora Ozubulu – which, alongside Nnewi and Oraifite, are the three communities that contributed massive lands which hosts the fast developing permanent site of the tertiary federal health institution.
Beyond facilitating this all-important link road with proper drainage, it was the sam Rep Azubogu who had in his first term facilitated N100m grant used to kickstart foundation structures at the Perm-site of the A-rate federal tertiary facility.
The enterprising Rep Chris Emeka Azubogu had attracted the first phase of the hitherto lengthy pathway covering Traffic Light to FRSC/Eme Court Road Junction in his first term. The stretch, on completion, was formally rechristened Odumegwu Ojukwu Drive in honour of Late Igbo Leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, who played a strategic role at the inception of his political trajectory.
The second phase (attracted in his second term) stretched from Eme Court Junction to Umuezena; with a bridge across Eze Umuezena stream.
While the last phase, a 2021/22 project, covered the Akammili / NAUTH Perm-site stretch that terminated a little after Blaze 91.5 FM Gate on the Irefi – Oraifite axis of Ekwusigo LGA.
Residents of Akammili in particular have not hidden their joy over the recent completion of the very last component of Phase III of the road project, which topography was eroded to the point that, for years, owners of luxury homes along the stretch could no longer access their homes with their vehicles.
Interestingly, while the euphoria that greeted that uncommon accomplishment by the enigma called #MrProject was yet to simmer, the quintessential lawmaker recently informed excited stakeholders that he has secured approval for the award of the unattended wing of the strategic road covering Blaze FM Gate to Sir Emeka Offor road junction Irefi, all in Oraifite, Ekwusigo LGA.
The stretch, which Azubogu hinted will soon be awarded, was abandoned since 2017 by the immediate past administration in Anambra State after the drainages have been completed.
Predictably, when the new phase of the project is awarded, this prior public knowledge that it is a fresh project [courtesy Rep Azubogu] notwithstanding, it will not be surprising to see media aides promoting one of his core opponent in the coming Anambra South senate race dubiously attempt to portray the New Project as one attracted in his capacity as Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation – a position he vacated over three years ago; ostensibly in their laughable but now notorious bid to always downplay #MrProject’s unrivalled ABILITY to consistently facilitate quality legislative project interventions.
Indeed, ‘ife eji abu Dike aburo nkpotu’ [the characteristics of a true warrior does not lie in empty noise] – Rep Chris Emeka Azubogu on my mind.
