Governor Chukwuma Soludo has been commended for the ongoing flagging off critical roads in the state for construction.
Speaking to the ABS in Awka, the Anambra state chairman, Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Architect Chukwuka Okonkwo said that the ongoing massive roads flag-offs by the governor is a clear demonstration that the governor did not mince words, when he told Ndi Anambra during campaign that he will leave an indelible mark in the state as a governor.
The Anambra state RTEAN chairman noted that the flagging off roads in Okpoko, Awka North, Ayamelum, Anambra East and West, among others are highly strategic because of the roles those areas play in the life of the state.
Architect Okonkwo maintained that while Okpoko needs urban renewal and good planning because of the density of its population, Anambra East and West, Awka North and Ayamelum Local Government Areas need good roads to convey their agricultural produce, thereby increasing food sufficiency in the state, and that they will leverage on the good roads to distribute their farm produce to other parts of Nigeria.
He appealed to Ndi Anambra to support the governor by ensuring that the various contractors that would be handling the road projects and their equipment are well protected and secured at all times.
The RTEAN boss also described the recent visit by Governor Soludo to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency in Abuja, as a step in the right direction as it would help immediately in drawing the attention of the Federal Government to some deplorable federal roads in Anambra state, with a view to re-constructing them.
Architect Okonkwo also called on the traditional rulers, presidents general and the stakeholders in the various communites in Anambra state to help the governor in ensuring that all forms of criminal activities do no longer occur in their towns and communites.
