The battle for the ticket of APGA come 2021 Anambra state governorship election is no longer a walk-over for any aspirant.
Few months ago, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo was considered as already having the 2021 ticket of the party before the rumoured endorsement of Evang Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, whose entry into the race caused the cabal to begin to rejig with plots to tighten its grip on the party structure.
But while APGA is adjusting to Prof Soludo and Nicholas Ukachukwu’s battle for the party’s 2021 guber ticket, another strong aspirant has entered the race. He is considered as powerful as the two aspirants mentioned above having served in various capacities at local, state and national level.
He is Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo. He is from Umuapani Ubahu Okija in Ihiala LGA. He was born on April 16, 1962. He is a Philosophy graduate from the Bigard Memorial Seminary Ikot-Ekpene. He also holds a Law degree from Baze University, Abuja and has a Post Graduate degree in Education from UNN. He also has a Professional Certificate in Cross Sector Partnership from Cambridge University, London.
Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo was a Personal Assistant to the chairman of Ihiala LGA. He was later appointed a Personal Assistant to Honourable Commissioner for Education Anambra state.
The then Vice President Goodluck Jonathan on assumption of Office made him his Special Assistant on Special Duties. His dedication to duty made the late President Musa Yaradua to appoint him as his Senior Special Assistant on Special Projects.
After the 2011 election, President Goodluck Jonathan appointed him as the Special Adviser on Technical Matters. He was later appointed as Secretary, Subsidy Re-investment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P).
Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo said his vision to succeed gov Obiano is to Strengthen Every Anambra Family to meet her own needs without depending on another family.
According to a source within the camp of Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo, the Okija born politician is determined to pick APGA ticket. Presently he is the only APGA aspirant who has officially declared to run for 2021 guber election on the platform of APGA. He has also met with various party structures.
The source told AIF Media that the former aide of President Jonathan is the next candidate in November 2021 governorship election. “He is ready. He will match other aspirants, strategy to strategy and logistics to logistics.”
“He has gone far in consultations and I am happy that major stakeholders and party members are giving so much support to his aspiration. We will snatch the APGA ticket and go ahead to win the main election. We won’t join others in making noise or fighting in the media, we are playing our behind the scene game so well and on the day of primaries, we will know who party structure will return”, the source concluded.
