The narrative surrounding the fatal shooting of an EFCC officer in Anambra has taken a significant turn, as it has been revealed that a medical doctor, not suspected Yahoo Boys, was responsible for the incident. The doctor reportedly mistook the operatives for kidnappers during a midnight raid and acted in self-defense.
According to reports, the EFCC operatives entered the doctor’s apartment unannounced in the middle of the night amidst heightened insecurity in the state. Believing he was under attack, the doctor used his licensed pump-action gun to defend himself. The operatives, who allegedly failed to notify local police before their operation, had forcibly gained entry, further fueling suspicion.
Upon realizing they were EFCC personnel, the doctor immediately ceased fire and surrendered. Tragically, one officer was killed, and another critically injured.
