On Monday, 25th of January 2021, the Chairman, Medical Advisory Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi Dr. Joseph Ugboaja (Ochinanwata) took over the mantle of leadership of NAUTH as the Acting Chief Medical Director of the Hospital following the expiration of tenure of Professor Anthony Igwegbe.
Briefing the men of the media after the official handover at the Hospital, the new acting CMD, thanked the Almighty God for making this day and stated that his vision is to transform the hospital to rank among top five Teaching Hospitals in Nigeria.
He stated that he will anchor his administration on three solid pillars which are Massive infrastructure development at the permanent site, strategic human capital development and acquisition of state of the art equipments for effective service delivery.
Dr. Ugboaja promised to work with all relevant stakeholders in the system in order to bring infrastructural developments, quality services as well industrial harmony.
He said that top on his priority is staff training aimed at equipping the workers with the necessary skills and knowledge to help drive development and ensure quality service delivery within the system.
Ochinanwata told the news men that areas that require immediate attention include the Accident & Emergency, the Intensive Care Unit and other emergency care services point. He stressed that the trauma center will receive priority attention.
The new acting CMD, Dr. Ugboaja is a visionary leader whose wealth of experience in hospital management is never in doubt.
His readiness and disposition to impact positively on the system is easily testified to by the workers.
