After a decade of waiting, Air Peace Airlines has launched direct commercial flight operations from Nigeria to Israel.

The five-hour flight, which began on Thursday, is expected to boost tourism, academic, religious, and trade relations between the two countries.

The move has been praised by Kennedy Okpara, former Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, who said that direct flights between the two countries will bring them closer together.

The Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, also lauded the development, stating that both countries will enjoy full benefits of the bilateral air transport agreement.

Ground handler for Nigerian pilgrims and tourists to Israel, Mr. Solomon Nwachukwu, described the direct flight as a sign of a growing relationship between the two countries.
