Anambra Guber: I Will Entrench Fairness, Equity And Empathy Into The System, Ekwunife Reassures

—— hosts Anambra South PDP LGA Officials

—— reiterates the need for the party to present a winnable candidate ahead of the polls

The leading aspirant for the November 6 Anambra governorship election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Uche Ekwunife has reiterated her commitment to lead a government that will entrench fairness, equity, justice and empathy into the political system of the state if elected as governor.

Ekwunife said this on Thursday, April 22, 2021, when she hosted the Anambra South PDP local government officials which comprises the LGA executives in the 7 local governments of the zone.

Speaking at the meeting which had in attendance the 7 local governments chairmen from Anambra South and other members of the executive, Ekwunife noted that there is need to bring about attitudinal change in the political system and governance of the state as PDP seeks to reclaim the seat of power. She said that the essence of participating in an electoral contest is to achieve victory and as such every party going into an election must present a candidate with the combination, capacity and competence to win.

Ekwunife, while reacting to insinuations by some quarters that the Indigeneship of Anambra South is graded in percentages where some aspirants claim to be more south than others, stated that such statement is baseless and an act of desperation. She said that no one can claim to be more south than she is, as she not only enjoys dual Indigeneship as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution but has through her actions impacted in the Anambra South region of the state even prior to her entrance into politics which earned her the traditional title of Nnedioramma Aguata as far back as 2002.

Speaking further, the Igbo-Ukwu born Senator promised that her government will promote meritocracy and provide a platform where all hardworking and purposeful citizens of the state will get the opportunity to achieve their full potentials.

In his remarks, the PDP Chairman, Orumba South, Mr. Tom Okoli appreciated Senator Ekwunife for her courage. He described the Senator as an aspirant whose capacity and political achievements speak volumes and noted that the upcoming election will be tough and only grassrooted aspirants like Ekwunife can lead the party to victory. Mr Okoli further appealed to party delegates to be logical and thorough in choosing the party’s flag bearer, stressing the need for the party to present a candidate who has the capacity to win the election.

In their separate remarks, Hon. Mrs. Amaka Nwankwo, Hon. Godson Awudosi and Mrs. Chinelo Ezeokafor, some of the LGA officials who spoke, described Ekwunife as an aspirant who has all it takes to deliver victory for the party at the polls. They urged party members to rally round the Senator and give her the support she needs to emerge as the candidate of the party and subsequently governor of the state.
